'J.O.Y' with a little red sparkle.

I love the Holiday season!  And who doens't love to do some easy decorating for cheap!  Now I know this idea is nothing new.  However, I have never tried it before so I thought I would give it a go.  I had this old cream separator that I put greenery in but I really wanted something bright red in it, I just didn't know what.  So one of my neighbors called me and told me about this idea that she was doing because it was cheap as well as super fast and easy.  I thought to myself 'THIS WOULD BE PERFECT!'  So I went to Joann's Fabric and bought the 3 letters J.O.Y.  Being my kids are crafty I already had elmers glue and red glitter.  Now I just bought the cardboard letters.  They're cheaper and if I messed up or they got ruined in packing then I wouldn't be so bummed out.  I took a small paint brush to help spread glue all over the letters and the sprinkled and packed on the red glitter.  And here was the outcome.....

Now that it's all sparkled I will spray some poly over it to protect the glitter from falling off too much. You could also use a stronger glue like Gorilla all purpose glue too.  You could also do this with the styrofoam cones to make 'trees' as well.  And might I add, this would be a great project to do with the kids!

Enjoy!

Danielle's Boutique in Lakeville, Minnesota

I met the very sweet lady today who sold me an INCREDIBLE piece!  (pictures really soon!)  But I learned that she has a great little shop in her backyard that she holds a Christmas Boutique with great little treasures!  I checked out her pictures on facebook and can't wait to head out to her sale when the time comes.  So if you're in the area around her Boutique times I would suggest to stop in and take a peek.  Great location too!  Thanks again Patty!

"The key to success is often the ability to adapt."

For the past 6 months I have been consigning at 2 stores, Mama's Happy in Mound and Yesterday's Charm in Buffalo.   I have decided to go down to 1 store, Yesterday's Charm in Buffalo.  This decision has NOT been an easy one, however I feel as though a huge weight has been lifted and I can only imagine what's in store for me in the future.  I will continue refinishing and repurposing there's not doubt about that.  I just LOVE LOVE LOVE what I do!  I will continue to grow with my business.  I will be posting things on this blog that come up for sale that I may not be able to fit into my store as well as on craigslist and my facebook page (www.facebook.com/countrystyleaccents).

On a side note, I will be doing a couple of craft shows in November.  November 5th I will be at the Champlin Park High School and the weekend after that November 12th I will be at the Maple Grove Community Center.  Check back for details as well as pictures!

October time!

Who doesn't love the change of the season in Minnesota?!   This is the perfect painting weather and I am having a blast painting outside!  So these are the pictures of my set ups at both the Buffalo store and Mound store.  Life has been very busy but it feels good to get back on track!

I love this blue primitive chair.  I found this at a garage sale 4 houses down from me!  I distressed a little and a darker color blue started to show underneath the littler color!  It is stunning.

Yes I made these pumpkins myself!  They are so stinking cute!  I love making them.

The orange was my color of choice this month.  I love how this dresser turned out.  I used a rusty color orange and it was a little too bright for me.  So I wiped on some Ebony color stain and painted a little black paint on the knobs and I think it turned out great!

I found this desk at a garage sale for $10!  When I first saw it I really pondered.  It was very dirty and the back had holes in it.  There were stains and some sort of sticky stuff all over it.  Yuck!  However, I saw it's potential!  I'm sure glad I did.  After lots of sanding and wiping down it turned out really nice.  I reused the back piece and just added corkboard and some burlap fabric.  Brand new!

See the cute white box on top of the desk?  My sweet husband picked that up for me at a garage sale!  He doesn't do that often so how sweet!  It opens up and has a mirror inside.  We think it may have been apart of a dresser??  On the bottom it looks as though it was attached to something.  Very neat though.

The kids and I went for a walk and I had to throw this picture in here.  What a great reminder of fall!  I love all the gorgeous leaves!  Oh and the kids are pretty cute too!

My Minnesota Purple Rustic Barn Wedding!!

I have to say, weddings are A LOT of work!!  Granted I insisted on doing everything myself because that's what I do!  This barn was such a great empty canvas to work with and believe me I almost filled every space I could!  Every detail was thought out and brought to life with the great help of my family and friends.  We had such a perfect day and I really couldn't have been a happier bride, because in the end I married the man of my dreams!  I got the rustic barn wedding that I wanted.  I hope you enjoy all the pictures and details.

A very rare window fit perfectly with the words, family and all of our names.  Underneath filled with a bunch of old doors.

Old suitcases for the necessities.  Everything from wet ones, bug spray, hair spray, and deodarant.

A table filled with more vintage suitcases pictures and memories.

The tables were topped with old crates with candles, yummy mints, and our homemade BBQ sauce!

The centerpieces contained of tall glass vases with dark purples and greens and at the very bottom to weight them are nuts and bolts in memory of my dad.   He was your average tinkerer in his garage and kept BUCKETS of every nut, bolt, screw he could find!

Great old barn door repurposed with pictures of our parents and grandparents along with how many years they have been married.

Our gifts table and sign in table.

This old bottle of DAD'S root beer has a great story behind it.  My dad used to LOVE this brand of root beer.  My mother-in-law went to a garage sale and bought a box of jars.  When she got home and started digging through the box this bottle was wrapped up hiding inside!  What a great sign for our wedding!

We added the curtains and shephard hooks with candles to light the way at night.

An old trunk in front of the head table with a great Norman Rockwell picture that says "Dear sweatheart, I love you more and more everyday".

A cake and wine table.  Later was used for late night desserts.

Another old suitcase used for our cards.  My in-laws cut a slit on the top and screwed a black painted board on the backside and words that said 'CARDS'.

My beautiful babies getting ready for the 'SHOW'.

Even had an old croquet set as part of the games.  We are still looking for all the pieces!

Upstairs of the barn we had a separate table full of coloring books, crayons, and glow sticks.

At my new husbands request, a pig roast.

The barn!

A very large water tank was suitable for soda, beer, and 2 very cute little boys to play in.

An old light with battery operated candle sticks.

My dad's car got me to the church and was our getaway car.

My husband's reaction when I surprised him with my white Camoflouge dress to match his vest!  And the Camo shoes I had to make because I couldn't find any I liked!

The barn is located in Henderson, Minnesota.
